The BT Series Battery Transporter is the ideal battery handler for facilities with relatively small lift truck fleets. This stout little machine can handle batteries weighing up to 3, lbs. The numerous configurations and options available for this unit allow you to tailor the battery transporter to meet your specific needs and applications. This medium volume changer is equipped with a 5-HP motor and is capable of loaded travel speeds ranging from fpm. The variable-speed electric drive of this changer allows for fast, efficient battery changes that average less than 2 minutes.
This changer is also equipped with a powerful vacuum extraction system that allows for battery attachment. The exclusive carriage assures positive leveling regardless of battery load distribution. By eliminating the safety concerns and labor costs involved with overhead battery systems, this machine can easily justify its existence in any facility. The first system is an AC controlled gear reduction drive system. The final power system drives the hydraulic components of the unit such as the carriage conveyors and pivot arm assembly.
This control means that the operator can travel, raise the carriage, and manipulate the vacuum arm simultaneously without any loss of performance.

Sound Off for Equipment Check: It’s almost time! As the aircraft nears the dropzone, the Jumpmaster gives the commands for every paratrooper to stand up, hook up their static lines and check their equipment one final time before making their way to the door. Source: US Army.
Of those ninety, the ten minute warning was only relevant to the thirty clustered closest to the rear of the Air Force C cargo aircraft. I was one of those thirty, roster number , and had already watched with a mixture of amazement and horror as the thirty before us had been fed, one at a time, out both jump doors into the waiting maw of the unknown.
We had prepared for this moment, to be sure, for all of the previous two weeks. The United States Army would never ask one of its soldiers to perform any task, however mundane, without first providing a detailed block of instruction. Kick your legs up and over. Activate your canopy release assembly. Prepared, yes, but ready? Absolutely not, we would have said.

Comments Shares We originally wrote a guide to preparing for VR last year, but with the Rift finally here, we’ve updated it with new information based on our time with both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. If you’ve ordered an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, your own personal headset may be rolling off a factory assembly line this very moment. Soon it will be placed in a box, packaged with a controller and sensor, loaded onto a ship or plane and delivered to your doorstep.
“INBOARD PERSONNEL STAND UP!” was the next jump command. “HOOK UP!” we were commanded. We bounced and rolled as the plane bounced and rolled, trying to get the hook on the end of our static line around the anchor line cable. The static line, fifteen feet long, slender as a whip, bright yellow, and with a tensile strength of over six.

How to Hook Up Bike Tires to Exercise Indoors by Elle Di Jensen You love bike riding for cardio, but the weather doesn’t always cooperate by providing you with clear skies and not too hot, not too cold temperatures. They’re handy stands that allow you to hook up the rear tire on your bike so you can exercise indoors. These bike stands do more than just convert your road or mountain bike into a stationary bike; they also provide adjustable resistance so you can simulate your favorite outdoor course.
Hooking one up to your bike only takes a few minutes, and then you’re ready to ride. Open the stand and set it on the floor. An open stand resembles a tripod with the resistance bar upon which your rear tire rests on one side, with the two support legs on the other. Place the stand on the floor in the location you want your bike. Unscrew the rods running through the hinge at the apex of the stand.
You need to slip your rear tire’s cog between them, so draw them out enough to provide the space, but don’t unscrew them all the way. Position your back tire so that it’s sitting on the resistance bar of the stand, with the wheel’s cog between the two support rods. Placing the end of one rod into the cog will help keep the bike in place as you work.
Screw the rods back in, making sure that each is in place in each side of the cog. You should alternate sides as you do this so that your bike remains centered on the resistance bar and doesn’t get pushed to one side or the other. Tighten the rods as much as you can.

A maintenance inspection b. A safety and operational inspection The maintenance inspection is geared more to preventative maintenance and identifying those items requiring repairs that will prevent the crane from being in a like new condition or from operating correctly, such as oxidized or cracking paint, sheet metal damage, track pad wear, track roller wear, rubber tire wear, oil levels, oil changes, etc. The Equipment Superintendent or his representative usually performs this inspection.

This feature provides the answers to their questions. Figure 1Overhead traveling bridge cranes are very familiar sights in metal fabricating shops. These cranes come in single- and double-girder bridge designs. Photo courtesy of North American Industries Inc. Plenty of metal fabricating operations have overhead cranes, but do plenty of those metal fabricating operations use the cranes to keep down overhead?
The simple point is that many of these companies may not be using the overhead cranes because they don’t know what they are fully capable of. In many instances, they may have come with the building and are used to pick up the occasional heavy load when a lift truck is unavailable. Actually, the lift truck is the de facto means of moving steel material around a metal fabricating facility. Most shops have them, and training drivers takes only a few hours.

This little trick — a deceptively simple measure of flexibility and strength — can predict who will live longer and whose lives will be cut short, according to a study by Brazilian physician Claudio Gil Araujo. He uses the test with athletes, but he also uses it to lay out the stakes with patients: To live longer, they must get moving and maintain muscle and balance. Araujo noticed long ago that many of his patients, particularly older people, had trouble with ordinary motions such as bending down to pick up something off the floor — difficulty indicative of a loss of flexibility.
As people age, he knew, reduced muscle power and loss of balance can greatly increase the risk of dangerous falls. Araujo wanted to do more than just lecture his patients about the importance of staying fit. He wanted to give them concrete information about where they had room to improve. He believed that existing clinical tests assessing flexibility, balance and muscle strength were too impractical or time-consuming, requiring ample space for walking or specific equipment such as a stopwatch or a particular type of adjustable chair.
So he and colleagues developed an alternative, which they call the sitting-rising test, or SRT. It requires no equipment or walking paths — just a clear patch of floor and a willing participant. People who scored fewer than eight points on the test, he found, were twice as likely to die within the next six years compared with those who scored higher; those who scored three or fewer points were more than five times as likely to die within the same period compared with those who scored more than eight points.
Overall, each point increase in the SRT score was associated with a 21 percent decrease in mortality from all causes.

The jump commands in the story are the ones that I learned when I was in the Army. Since there may be some level of interest in what goes on in the aircraft prior to the jump, I will share what I remember. There is enough room in most military aircraft to have four rows of jumpers running the length of the plane. It is a tight fit. Since most of these aircraft have a door on each side, there is a jumpmaster for each door.
Each jumpmaster is responsible for the two rows of men on his side of the aircraft. All commands are accompanied by arm and hand signals because with the plane in flight and the doors open, there is a lot of noise.
