By William Usher 2 months ago One of the biggest complaints about any competitive multiplayer game is the matchmaking. Developers pore over all sorts of details in order to make matchmaking algorithms beneficial for players. Well, Valve is stepping outside the box and making matchmaking variables based on your behavior in other games. Over on the official Counter-Strike website , there’s an update for the game called “The Trust Factor”. This is a replacement system for the previous model known as the “Prime Matchmaking” system. In the “Prime Matchmaking” players would have to attach a unique phone number to their account, and they would be paired up based on their in-game experience. This created fractures for some players because it meant that if you enjoyed being matched up with or against certain groups of players, those who ranked up or didn’t rank up fast enough would eventually be moved out of the matchmaking pool.

By Brian Barnett Counter-Strike: GO has received a new matchmaking system that analyses player behavior across Steam. According to the Counter-Strike blog , the new system has created something called a Trust Factor for Steam players. This system takes into account total time playing CS: GO, times players have been reported for cheating, and time spent playing other games on their Steam account, with all of these contributing to create a player’s Trust Factor.
Valve says the results of the experiment have been positive, allowing them to keep the parts of the Prime system that were working, while ditching parts that caused issues in the CS:
Flipboard Mere hours ago, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive developer Valve introduced the Trust Factor matchmaking system. The latter is defined as one of the most significant changes in competitive matchmaking enforced over the past year or so. Essentially, Valve has altered the Prime Matchmaking and implemented a new algorithm for pairing players.
As of 30 November , the website and forum is no longer available. iiNet and the team would like to thank everyone who was involved in the community of readers, players, downloaders and lurkers alike for their support over the years.
By Andy Chalk T Comments Shares Valve has rolled out a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive matchmaking system that expands on the Prime Matchmaking system it launched last year. Called Trust, the new system takes a more holistic approach to connecting players than Prime by taking into account a much wider range of factors, including some drawn from outside of CS: Prime Matchmaking requires that players link their accounts to their mobile devices and have a minimum CS: GO rank of 21, to help ensure a reasonably consistent level of skill and commitment between connected players.
But that “created a hard boundary in the CS: GO community, and players who might otherwise be perfectly happy playing together were separated,” Valve said in a blog post. Enter the optimistically-named Trust system. We started with that question, and have been experimenting with matching players using observed behaviors and attributes of their Steam account, including the overall amount of time they had spent playing CS: GO, how frequently they were reported for cheating, time spent playing other games on their Steam account, etc,” Valve wrote.
The post says that matches created using Trust have resulted in fewer reports, even among players who don’t have Prime status. As a result, Trust Factor will now be the default CS:
As an added measure, the system could automatically track the accounts that get kicked, and if they don’t get banned after continuing to play, the Overwatch user loses their kick ability after too many illicit kicks. GO Overwatch Forum is where Tier 3 Overwatch users can communicate more intimately with Valve on the issue of cheating and other things like player behaviour.
They can discuss policies for rule breakers, how to deal with things that arise, or how to improve the system in a more mature area, with others who actively use Overwatch, and are contributing to a better game. Lots of choices here. Basically, all of the above Overwatch changes motivates players to contribute in reducing cheaters, but in a legitimate manner. Unlike plain rewards, these require users to maintain accuracy in their reports, and if they don’t, they are demoted or lose all benefits.

Last year, Valve launched the Prime Matchmaking service with the goal of providing a better matchmaking experience. The system required players to link their phone numbers and later it required players to reach at least rank Because of this, Prime status ended up causing division within the community, as Prime players couldn’t interact with non-Prime players. The company said constant updates to the system will change what factors will be in play, and that the purpose of the system is for players to have a better experience without having to worry about optimizing anything.

With that being said, Valve has decided to keep some of the best things about Operation Hydra in the game for all players to enjoy and added a new matchmaking system. The new system aims to match players who are likely to have a good experience together.
It is called the Trust Factor and replaces the Prime Matchmaking system in some ways while keeping other parts of Prime. The answer Valve has come up with is the Trust Factor, which the developer explains has had positive results in testing: In matches created using Trust Factor, most players ended up generating fewer reports regardless of their Prime status.

The new system is an update to the previous Prime Matchmaking system, which matched players who linked their phone number to their account and had reached Rank The answer, then, is a new Trust system that looks at factors such as time spent playing CS: GO, frequency of being reported for cheating, and even time spent playing other games on a Steam account to form a Trust Factor rating.

This system is aptly named, Trust Factor, or simply Trust, and expands upon the game’s initial matchmaking system called Prime Matchmaking, which was launched last year. Due to the game’s ambitious nature and its massive potential for e-sports, Prime Matchmaking was perhaps not enough to determine a fair gameplay session for the players.
This is why the Trust system was implemented. Regarding the shift, Valve has stated, “What if the Prime system was re-imagined using a wider range of factors?
